Welp, I got it wrong the first time.

Dear friend,

I hope today brings with it chuckles and chortles.

Laughter, essentially. May you find something that gives you the afternoon giggles and lets you take a break from the screen, to be like "damn. that was funny."

I used to say this line all the time:

"I help women in tech fall back in love with their careers."

And for a while, it felt right.

I said it on LinkedIn, intro calls, workshops.

I said it everywhere. (kind of like a parrot 🦜)

And it resonated at the time with what I was seeing.

Smart, thoughtful women who had built impressive careers but felt completely drained, even though they really valued their careers.

They were burnt out, unsure what was next, and quietly wondering if something was wrong with them.

"Should I leave tech (and the tech paycheck)?" was a common question.

So we’d work together to retrace our steps of how we got to this point of exhaustion.

And got back to what actually matters in their career.

This helped.

But it wasn't enough.

Because when I looked at what they actually did after coaching, it wasn’t just "falling back in love with their careers."

They were making much bigger changes.

Beyond work.

They were quitting.

Launching side projects.

Building businesses (2 coaches in our current cohort).

They were making space for creativity, for rest, for possibility.

Y'all. One of my clients (an engineering manager with a love of horse-riding) literally bought a horse this weekend. A whole horse!

Another started a business this month to give herself time freedom and has 3 paid clients already! When she started working together, she literally thought it would be impossible to get a client that'd pay her $1.

These weren’t just career changes.

These were full-life recalibrations.

They were reimagining what their lives could look like.

And going after that.

Even if it meant career wasn't at the forefront.

So I've updated my language to match what was really happening.

Now I say:

“I help women in tech reimagine what’s possible.”

It’s less catchy, maybe.

But it’s more honest.

It’s about reconnecting with the part of you that’s creative and curious.

Sometimes that looks like:

→ Saying no to something you’ve outgrown

→ Taking a pause, even when you don’t have the next thing lined up

→ Doing something just because it brings you joy

→ Not constantly throwing yourself into the fire of chaos, just because you can

It's your turn. What kind of possibilities do you want to create in your life?

Rooting for you,

Sarah

Here’s a photo of my view, writing away from a quiet café by the water.

A small, dreamy moment that felt completely out of reach just a few years ago.

Now it’s part of my everyday life. And I don’t take that for granted ❤️

HI friend, You know what I’ve realized? Since I started using AI, it has actually cost me thousands of dollars. Not because it broke anything. Not because it gave me bad ideas. But because it slowly stripped the joy out of how I work. And that joy? It turns out it was the fuel. For my creativity. For my momentum. And, for my revenue. For context - I run a coaching and consulting business for women and non-binary folks in tech. A big part of how I connect with future clients is by sharing...

“We did it, sister!” Brené Brown says, excitedly high-fiving me. She comes over with her paddle, and we do a celebratory tap with our eternal nemesis— ahem, I mean, our friendly, recreational pickleball opponents. This, my friend, is not the recounting of a fever dream. It’s a story about how I met THE Brené Brown at pickleball last week. photo credit: Brené’s instagram. the woman loves pickleball I was in my fourth hour of playing when, post-match, a sunny-dispositioned woman comes up to me....

I've spent the last couple months house-sitting in Honolulu. And part of my task was to keep a couple of plants alive. Succulents, specifically. Which should be easy enough, right? "Can you take care of a few plants?" my friend asked."Yes, of course," I said. "With a doubt." Because how hard could it be. Succulents.Low-maintenance. Thrive in neglect. The chillest of houseplants. But I fussed over it.“I’ll water it now just in case I forget later.”“This sun is intense - better top it off.” “If...
